The 1st city EMU wholly developed by China, 140km/h city EMU for Wenzhou city railway S1, has been completed from the assembly line in the CRRH Qingdao Sifang Locomotive Company recently, filled the blank of city railway passenger transportation equipment of China. The EMU has self-owned intellectual properties rights. Train body, bogie, trail brake, networks control, and core technologies alike are all developed by itself. The localization rate of the whole vehicle reaches to 98%.
The City EMU is a kind of new transportation method within big cities. It provides high speed, large passenger load, and bus-style service railway transportation system between central districts and surrounding new zones (countryside) and satellite cities. It offers help to regular commuting for workers, students and businessmen. The transportation distance normally is between 50-100 kilometers. Wenzhou city EMU S1 140km/h adopts the 4-carriage train, the maximum passenger load of which can be 1,328 people. It is new rail transportation equipment for city railway based on advanced bullet train technologies and matured A type subway technologies. It has advantages of metro such as high loading capacity, quick in start, stop, and also has the advantages of the bullet train such as high-speed and comfort.
